our story

  • Our mission

The mission of Unit 1 Athletics is to enhance the overall athletic experience for youth athletes in Brookline and the surrounding areas and to foster a greater sense of community and commitment to teams throughout the town. Our goal is to nurture individual athletes, not just for their personal success, but also to become better teammates.

By elevating athletic skills, fostering community, and uniting athletes, we intend to support a collaborative and high-achieving local athletic environment, particularly although not exclusively around lacrosse.

  • our programs

Unit 1 Athletics offers training in lacrosse, baseball, basketball, and strength and conditioning. Our programs focus on fundamental skill development using a high-energy, high-intensity, and supportive development model. Sessions are available for boys and girls from elementary to high school at varying experience levels. While the majority of our programming focuses on general skills, there are specific skill and position-specific offerings depending on the sport. New players are welcome. We believe in quality of quantity and our goal is for players to work hard, have fun, and have the opportunity to grow to love their sports. Our strength and conditioning training is for athletes from all sports who are committed to their overall athletic performance.

  • Our Staff

Our staff brings over half a century of combined experience across a variety of sports, including lacrosse, basketball, baseball, field hockey, soccer, and more. This diverse background allows our coaches to draw on a broad range of athletic principles and techniques, enriching their ability to develop well-rounded athletes. They each have extensive playing experience at the high school and collegiate level in Division I, II, III and MCLA programs. Several have won league, county, state and national titles. A majority are on the athletic staff at Brookline High School. Many are also professional educators outside of their coaching responsibilities. All are passionate about teaching athletic fundamentals.
